Add a 1/2 transverse slice of rat kidney and 1 mL of Trizol into a 2mL Bead Ruptor tube. Place tube into Bead Ruptor. Homogenize samples at 6,000 rpms for 2 minutes. Run the Bead Ruptor 24 for 2 cycles to ensure that the sample is thoroughly lysed.
