Inflorescence stems of 10-week-old plants were collected for cell wall isolation. Stems were ground into fine powder in liquid nitrogen with a mortar and pestle, homogenized with a rotor stator homogenizer (polytron,) and extracted in 70% ethanol at 70°C.
