Ventricles were rapidly cut away, weighed, and homogenized with a rotor stator (polytron) homogenizer at setting 3 for 5s in 5 ml of ice-cold sucrose buffer (pH 7.4) and buffer containing 5mg/ml bovine serum albumin added to a final volume of 40 ml.
