Cells were harvested by using a cell scraper, washed three times with phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), and then sonicated on ice for 30 s at 30% capacity with a 30% duty cycle by using an ultrasonic homogenizer (sonicator) equipped with a cup horn in order to disrupt cell aggregates.
