Omni Prep Multi Sample
Q: I do not process hundreds of samples per day, could
I still benefit from the Omni Prep multi-sample homogenizer?
A: Although the Omni Prep has
a processing throughput capability of up to 250 samples per hour, the user
would benefit from this homogenizer with as little as 10 samples. Using
conventional methods, homogenizing 10 samples may take several hours to
process. With the Omni Prep, these same 10 samples will be completely
homogenized in minutes, therefore freeing up your time for other aspects of the
research.
Q: Is the Omni Prep sold as a package?
A: The Omni Prep is sold as a
customizable homogenizing system and all accessories are therefore sold separately.
At least one processing rack, three tube holders, and Omni Tip plastic probes
are required to operate the Omni Prep.
Q: Does the Omni Prep allow the user to store the
speed and time?
A: Yes. The Omni Prep allows
the user to store up to three speed and time parameters or a customer may also
use the manual mode in order to define a protocol.
Q: Is the Omni Prep compatible with tube sizes other
than 1.5mL, 2mL, 5mL 15mL and 50mL?
A: Yes. If your tube does not
fit in one the stock tube holders offered, Omni will specially design one.
Please call Omni at 1-800-776-4431 for details.
Q: Does the Omni Prep offer sample cooling?
A: Yes. The Omni Prep offers
an optional smaller cooling tray for 1.5mL and 2mL sample tubes as well as a
larger cooling tray for the 15mL and 50mL tubes.
Q: Are the stainless steel probes compatible with the
Omni Prep multi-sample homogenizer?
A: The Omni Prep is only
compatible with the new 10mm stainless steel probes specifically designed for
the Omni Prep. The 10mm probes are ideal for larger sample volumes, larger
initial sample tissue sizes, and tougher sample types. Stainless steel
probes are also resistant to most organic solvents commonly used during
homogenization.
Q: Does the Omni Prep require that all six positions
are being utilized prior to operation?
A: The Omni Prep may process
two, four or six samples per processing rack. If two samples are being
homogenized, the tube holders must be positioned in the center of the
processing rack. If four samples are being homogenized, the four
positions closest to the center must be utilized. It is not recommended
to homogenize one, three or five samples per rack.
Q: Can different Omni Prep tube holders be used during
the same run?
A: Different size tube
holders may be used during the same run. However if rack oscillation is needed,
it is recommend using tubes that are very similar in overall
length.
Q: Can I use the Omni Prep in a 4°C cold room?
A: Yes. The temperature range
for using the Omni Prep is -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 114°F). Acceptable
range of room humidity is 20-80% non-condensing.
